Mini Case Study: Southwark Council

We were delighted to recently receive images and an update on a special wildflower project from Southwark Council.

A funding application from Bessemer Grange Primary School was submitted to Southwark Councils Cleaner Greener Safer funding scheme, with the school wishing to bring more biodiversity to a nearby pedestrian and cycle route.

Both Green Dale Cycle route and the footpath at Champion Hill, Southwark benefited from this initiative, with the school and council working closely together on the project.

The installation team were briefed to break up the existing grass areas and the existing shrubs, and organic shapes were created.  Spring bulbs were also underplanted, and the resulting wildflower meadow has created a buffer of colour and a corridor for wildlife.

The school has successfully applied for further funding to expand the scheme which will be implemented in Sept / Oct of this year.

Several members from Southwark Council have also attended our Wildflower Maintenence training, to ensure that they get the very best from their new wildflower initiative.
