Case Study – Walsall Council

Walsall Council has benefited from a successful funding bid via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and significant environmental enhancements will be made to several key sites, with wildflowers a priority.

As part of the rewilding of Walsall, the Council have very recently taken 1,100m² of Wildflower Turf Shade Tolerant and 500m² of Wildflower Turf Native Enriched, with delivery occurring at the beginning of March.

The turf has been laid on highway verges adjacent to highway junctions to ensure maximum impact and to pique the interest of those using the road junctions.

Walsall’s highway verges will teem with biodiversity.

Following a dry start to spring, the turf has been regularly watered following its installation.

As well as providing an attractive roadside area, the wildflower verges will benefit pollinating insects and will assist Walsall Council to reduce maintenence costs.
