What’s Growing On The Greenway

Following their work on the design and delivery of the Connswater Community Greenway in Belfast (a project that Wildflower Turf Ltd supplied turf to) Anthony McGuigan and Darren McKinstry from The Paul Hogarth Company agreed to write a blog about the new landscape, which has now been turned into a book.

The original purpose of the What’s Growing on the Greenway blog was to facilitate a conversation between the Landscape Architects and the community of East Belfast about the new and improved landscape.

It was agreed that the blog would be written in conjunction with local community input (rather than as a horticultural lecture). The community were engaged via a ‘Photo Call’ on social media and the project eventually grew to encompass a photography exhibition, tours and plant explorations where Anthony and Darren introduced the local photographers and delivered talks on the plants photographed. And now a book!

In terms of our involvement in the project itself, we delivered three types of Bespoke Turf to the Connswater Community Greenway; (Meadowbank mix 1,800m², Traditional mix 2,000m² and Woodland mix 900m²) as well as supplying 1,200m² of Landscape 34 and 400m² of Shade Tolerant turf. The Wildflower Turf for this project was all supplied through Cameron Landscapes in Belfast.
